Gerald explains the first series of FIFA MANAGER 12 screenshots en detail!

Hi all,

Today’s blog is all about the twelve initial FIFA MANAGER 12 screenshots we published around a week ago. I will explain the single shots and tell you more about the features that are captured:

Pre-Match Speech

This new feature is all about finding the right motivation for your players before a game. In general, players will gain moral after you gave your speech. You can choose from a variety of different addresses with varying “intensity”. However, the team’s actual performance and the result of the game are also taking into account. If everything runs smoothly as instructed, their moral will remain on the higher level from before the game, if they lose, moral will decrease to an even lower level as before the match. A detailed post-match analysis is also part of this feature, so you know what went wrong and why.

In order to give speeches, you need “Speech Points”, which are regulated in correspondence with your manager level. The more experienced you are as a manger, the more Speech Points are at your disposal. This adds further weight to your manager level, which also is important during player negotiations and the search for a new club. More info on this subject will follow later on.

As time goes by, you will get back already spent Speech Points, the more successful your speeches are the faster you will be redeemed.

In general, you can choose from 9 addresses a time before a match. Altogether, more than 40 different speeches are in the game, for example also very specific versions for strikers who aren’t scoring any more.

This feature is of course optional, you can de-activate it if you prefer so.

Line-Up and Manager Achievements

At closer look, this screenshots reveals a couple of new alterations at once. At first, at the top there is the “Invited for Friendly Match” symbol, a new feature. In FIFA MANAGER 12 it is possible to invite every club for a friendly and you’ll receive answer within a short period of time.

As we continue, the new pitch catches our focus. On the one hand, the new small shorts are visible – they resemble the real shorts even more. The pitch itself has also been enlarged to minimize the chances of overlapping text. In addition, a small context menu has been implemented that deals with the various options in displaying the line-up screen.

The last new feature on that screenshot is “Manager Achievements”. These achievements will earn you bonus points that will consequently increase your manager level and earn you more potential in your pre-match speeches. The achievements are divided into five groups (+ miscellaneous), each containing tasks in five difficulty levels. 40 missions can be achieved straight from the start, others will appear in the later course of a game.

Squad analysis

The squad analysis is a manager tool you can commission at any given time. In a very clear and neat fashion, it shows which parts of your squad need to be improved. The green shirts indicate positions that are well represented in your team; the yellow shirts mean an average quality; orange shirts indicate problems; and the red shirts stand for a position you should reinforce sooner than later. This feature works so well that we highly recommend it not only for our users but for real managers who want to find out the weak spots in their team!

This is the first screenshot from the complex of finances and sponsoring. You can expexpect a lot from this whole area, but to begin with, the screenshot already shows the direction. You have to deal with a larger number of sponsors that are not easy to satisfy – this year, you really have to work in order to meet their demands.

Another detail in the screenshot: The “Your Top Scorers” widget now also shows scored goals of the current match day – only one of several hundred detail improvements in FIFA MANAGER 12.

Many numbers and information are now projected directly onto the pitch; in this case it is the current result before a kick-off as well as the scorers. On the left bottom corner we see the new circle menu, which enables you to direct your team easily without the need to open any additional screens. The screenshot shows a change performed in the passing style of the team.

The second screenshots shows another example for the new overlays projected directly on the pitch. Here, you can see the corner stats of both teams.

The first, non-visible, innovation is the fact that players can now be selected while the game is on, you do not need to pause it. The new menu offers all the well-known options and many new ones as well. A new screen for abilities lets you quickly discover strength and weaknesses of both you’re and the opponent squad; at the same time you can also change all individual tactical settings for your own players. All this happens directly on the pitch, you do not have to leave the live game for these changes.

The second screen shows the player info that can be opened by selecting the player.

Lactate test

The lactate test is an entirely new feature. The test can be ordered once per season and puts the players’ fitness levels up to date. Depending on the team’s character, you can expect good or bad numbers.

Frequently asked for – now back in the game! The classic training mode with up to four sessions per day celebrates its comeback in FIFA MANAGER 12. In addition to classic training possibilities you will also get access to more variations if you expand the respective club facilities.

Furthermore, you have the option to hire an external fitness coach for pre-season who will get the most out of your players before the start of the season.

We also introduce the option to use players that are participating in tryouts for friendly matches. This enables you to gather even more info about them before you take further decisions. The realization of this feature has been a community wish for many years.

Club facilities have been rebuilt from scratch. All in all, 25 buildings and up to 3 stadiums can become part of the club facilities. More than hundred building stages are available (289 building graphics were designed), every level has direct effects on the game. Some positive effects of expanded club facilities are for example: hire more staff members; put more players on the scouting list; scout more players at once; improve the effectiveness of your training; shorter injury durations and many more.

Small detail in the margin: Depending on the city and its geographic position, the background of the club facilities will change accordingly.

At the top of the screen, you can see a new calendar entry: The Charity Event.

In the center of the screen we see how the construction of new buildings or higher levels of buildings is organized. Depending on the level of your building yard you can choose a changing number of simultaneous constructions. A decisive innovation is the new structure of construction. There are more expansions available for the individual buildings but they take shorter to finish. The effects of the new extensions are visible way sooner and can be seen in the game very clearly.

When constructing, one of three speed levels can be selected; the faster you need or want the building to be finished, the more you have to pay.

The columns “renovate” and “deconstruct” also show that buildings, just like their real counterparts, age and need to be renovated from time to time. This of course takes many years, but the longer you postpone necessary renovations, the more you’ll have to invest in the end. Sound too complex?
